Mrs. Dilanie Lewis

Hi There! My name is Dilanie Lewis and I am the new school counselor at this amazing school, working alongside Mrs. Joanie Huston.  I am excited to begin my 17th year in education and my 9th year in school counseling with Corley Elementary School.  I hold a Master's Degree in Elementary Education,  a Master's Degree in  School Counseling, as well as, an Education Specialist Degree in School Counseling.  I look forward to supporting our students and their families as we work together to have a successful and effective year of social emotional learning.  I have 3 amazing children that keep me pretty busy between gymnastics and baseball. In my spare time I love to spend time with my family, enjoy laughs with friends, and design custom t-shirts.

Mrs. Joanie Huston

Hello! My name is Joanie Huston. This is my thirteenth year as a counselor and my ninth year at Corley!  I taught special education students for seven years before becoming a counselor. I love to encourage students, help them believe in themselves, and make friends.  Good relationships with teachers and parents are necessary for students to be successful. I love what I do! I enjoy being outside, spending time with my family, and cooking.

What are school counselors and what do they do?

School counselors are certified educators who are specifically trained to address the academic, personal/social and career development needs of their students. School counselors are in schools to help students with anything which helps them to be successful in school. School counselors provide classroom guidance lessons, individual counseling, and small group counseling.

Who do school counselors help?

School counselors are here to support everyone in the Corley Elementary School Community. School counselors are here to help students, families, parents, teachers, and staff.

When should you call your student’s school counselor?

  • When your student is having difficulty learning.
  • When there are family changes that are interfering with their progress in school.
  • When you would like to know about community resources and agencies of your student or family.
